The BIG Turkey Day

I have to tell you, I am so excited for Thanksgiving! Not because of the turkey, or the stuffing, or the yummy potatoes (my waistline grew an inch just thinking about it). It is because I get to spend it with my best friend. I have spent countless holidays without him, so any holiday we do get to spend together I feel so blessed.

At the beginning of this year, Nate and I decided to start a new adventure. He had a job opportunity in the Twin Cities area, and we saw this as a chance to grow closer together as a family (since we've spent almost half our 7 year marriage apart). Don't cry for me though, we all have our own challenges, and this has been ours. I wouldn't trade it for anything because I might not have learned the same lessons I did. Luckily, I'm able to look back fondly at all our struggles and see the good in all the chaos.

So back to the story...before we packed up our car with ourselves, our kitty named Joey, essentials for 2 weeks (we had to wait for the movers) and our TV of all things (Nate's idea) we had decided we would come back to Utah in May for my sisters graduation, and for Christmas. Hooray! I was excited.

Both our families live in Utah, and we have spent every holiday with one or the others families. We love having such tight knit families that we get along with (for the most part). But we are also very excited to make our own traditions, memories, and favorite family recipes. So bring on the BIG Turkey Day! I have much to be thankful for and will be enjoying every minute of it.

What are your favorite Thanksgiving traditions?

TUTORIAL TUESDAYS Creating Winning Color Combinationc

Colors can set a mood, attract attention, or make a statement. You can use color to energize, or to calm a space. Colors affect us in numerous ways, and being able to use them harmoniously can help you create great results! To get results you will always be happy with, just refer to the color wheel. This is the most basic tool for creating color combinations.

To learn all about creating color combinations with the color wheel, click here.

Another good way to find fun color combinations is Pinterest, just type in Color Combination in the search bar, and you will have color coming out your ears.

At the very least, it will give you some inspiration to go create your own combination.

To apply combinations to your home I would start small. A couple pillows, artwork, table centerpiece. Don't go out and buy all new furniture (unless you really want to). But if your like me, you'll change your mind eventually, and then your stuck with that pea green couch (that was once so cute). I keep the bare bones in my house neutral and classic, then accessorize with fun colors and patterns. Get creative! You can take fabric, attach it to the back of a basic bookcase, and it becomes a whole new piece. It breathes life into any room. Have fun with it! And remember to show me what you come up with.

Let it Begin

To say I am super excited to be here, would be a huge understatement. And I am so grateful my brain was able to figure out how to get my design posted on here. It took many hours of You Tube videos, tutorials, and pure luck to get everything lined up and ready to publish. Hallelujah!

Just a little intro...

My loves include graphic design, minimalist crafting, home decor, researching, and I am starting to enjoy organizing. Well, I mostly like the feeling when something is organized. Since I have sooo many loves, I also have a 20 track mind (which can be a pain). I always have about 7 projects going at one time, so when I finish one, it's great! I am looking forward to using this blog to keep my projects on track.

I have been consulting people for years now on graphic design and home decor, and have been wanting to be able reach more people.

Thank you for visiting! I hope you enjoy what you see, and I hope my posts help you. Let me know if you ever have any questions.

P.S. Happy 4th of July! We are heading to the carnival. Then picnic in the park, followed by city fireworks. Since this is our first 4th since my husbands deployment to Afgahnistan, we are looking forward to making great memories! Take Care!
